The transformation of Nordhavn, Northern Europe’s largest metropolitan development, continues Copenhagen’s historic expansion into the sea. Conceived as an urban archipelago, the master plan creates a series of dense, interconnected waterfront neighborhoods through a flexible framework that can adapt to future needs.

By dividing the harbor into canals and basins, reclaimed land forms new islands that reflect Nordhavn’s maritime heritage while bringing water into the heart of the district. Designed for walking, cycling, and public transport, the neighborhood is connected by the Green Loop, an elevated bicycle route linking Nordhavn to the rest of Copenhagen. Carefully oriented streets, diverse urban typologies, and climate-responsive planning create a vibrant, livable waterfront district designed for generations to come.
