The Købmagergade project was conceived to create an attractive and coherent sequence of public spaces connecting Nørreport to Amagertorv. A continuous, level street surface has been established, extending seamlessly from building façade to building façade throughout the streets and adjoining squares.

Natural stone in black and white tones creates a unique urban landscape, with the paving shifting in character from light-coloured streets to darker public squares. The new paving along Købmagergade enhances the urban experience for residents, visitors, shoppers, and local businesses alike in one of Copenhagen’s busiest pedestrian streets.

Each square has been given its own distinctive character. The large fountain at Kultorvet invites people to gather, linger, and enjoy the heart of the square; the illuminated paving at Trinitatis Church Square evokes the night sky; and the play landscape at Hauser Plads offers children and adults new opportunities for play and recreation in the city centre.
